Shiva was executed following some of the rules used in writing Chinese characters. The order of strokes was strictly determined before beginning, making the the execution of the black ink grid and diagonals almost like a performance. The horizontals and verticals in particular just follow the order of strokes used for Chinese characters. The colors (as is unlikely to be evident in reproduction) we selected for optical interactions and for the proportions, based on the Fibonacci series, used in mixing primaries.
