I Don't Need Power at the Cost of Spilled Blood (Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité) - 2014

For glitChicago Alfredo Salazar-Caro explores Glitch as an allegory to corrupt//broken systems that led to the Ukranian Revolution of 2014 and the subsequent Crimean Crisis . Salazar-Caro constructs a triptych depicting Vladimir Putin, Barack Obama, Viktor Yanukovych, Yulia Tymoshenko and Petro Poroshenko, in an attempt to spark a conversation on power, politics, monuments and failed systems.

Alfredo Salazar-Caro born in Mexico City, Mexico is a multimedia artist, currently based in Chicago. He works with sculpture and digital media including video, animated gifs, and virtual reality. Through these mediums Alfredo explores phenomenology, identity, memory, and time. Recently such concepts have manifested themselves as digital avatars and virtual reconstructions of environments, often creating a form of hyper portraiture/self-portraiture for participatory engagement and viewing. Salazar-Caro has exhibited nationally and internationally in cities such as Dallas, Chicago, New York, Toronto, Amsterdam, L.A, London, Berlin, Caracas, Shiraz, Iran, Mexico City.
